April & May Team of the Month

By Lincs League

Brigg Town CIC are the Balcan Lighting Supplies Team of the Month for April and May.

Four wins and a draw sees Lee Thompson's squad awarded the team of the month accolade for the combined months of April and May, and with one game to spare!

April began with back to back fixtures with Horncastle. First of all, it took just a single Charlie Dolling goal to gain all three points at the Hawthorns. However, both sides had one eye on the following week where the two clubs met again at The Vertigo Stadium in the Lincs Junior County Cup Final. It was the Zebras who were triumphant again as goals from Reece Moody, Jake Reed and Jonny Nicholls sank The Wongers to lift the county cup.

The following weekend a 1-1 draw away at third placed Gainsborough Trinity Reserves, was good in terms of keeping their opponents that day behind them in the standings, but meant Lincoln Moorlands would claim the title. Tom Pearson scored on that occasion.

The final fixture of the month saw Thompson's side put five past bottom side Grimsby Borough without reply to all but secure runners up spot. Reed and Thompson netted a brace each, whilst Moody also added to his tally for the season.

Their final league fixture of the campaign saw them run out 4-2 winners against Nettleham. Goals from Nicholls, Moloney, Reed and Rodgers saw off their opponents.

Brigg can round off their successful season by winning the challenge cup trophy on Friday as they entertain Lincoln United Development.
