League:

Cleethorpes Town Reserves 0-1 Gainsborough Trinity Reserves

Zach Casburn's twelth league goal of the season secured his side another crucial three points in their bid to become champions of the Lincs League in their opening season. Gainsborough now have an eight point gap between them and the chasing duo of Brigg Town and Lincoln Moorlands, who both have games in hand. As for Cleethorpes, a run of three successive wins has now been followed by back to back defeats which sees them drop into the bottom half of the table.

Immingham Town 0-0 Brigg Town CIC

The Pilgrims kept their first clean sheet of the season to end Brigg's impressive eight game winning streak as both teams played out a goalless draw at The Blossom Way Sports Ground. It's also the first time The Zebras have failed to score this season. They now sit eight points behind pacesetters Gainsborough, but crucially have three games in hand. Immingham remain in ninth.

Lincoln Moorlands Railway 2-1 Lincoln United Development

The team of the month jinx was avoided for the second month running as Lincoln Moorlands Railway came from a goal down to beat Lincoln United Development squad by two goals to one. Kane Hutchinson Wilkes gave The Whites a first half lead, before Jesse Anderson made it 1-1 before the break. The second half saw Anderson find the target again to make it four straight league wins which means they leapfrog their opponents into third place in the standings.

Ruston Sports 4-1 Wyberton

Rustons enjoyed their first win of the new year to record their second league double of the season. Last seasons top goalscorer Alex Mackinder produced a brace, whilst Steven Swinburn and an own goal gave Sports all three points to see them move up to fifth. Ben Jaques score the visitors only goal as they fell to just their second defeat in nine games.

Challenge Cup:

Horncastle Town 1-1 Nettleham (Horncastle win 4-3 on penalties)

The only cup game of the weekend saw Nettleham visit The Wong as both clubs looked to book their place in the semi final of the competition. Having scored all five goals the last time the two sides met, Jack Higginson fired home again to give The Nettles an early lead. Horncastle equalised just before the break through Steve Brown. Neither team could find a winner in the second forty-five, or even extra time so a penalty shoot out was needed to separate the two sides. It was the 2016/17 winners who kept their cool to beat the village side 4-3 after nine spot kicks. They will now face Lincoln United Development Squad in the semis.
