Weekend Round Up: Gameweek 22

By Lincs League

Round up from the weekends action in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League.

Gainsborough Trinity's eight game winning streak came to an end today as they fell to a 4-2 defeat against fellow title contenders Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

Brigg Town also capitalised on this loss with another solid win at home to Ruston Sports to close the gap to just five points on the league leaders. Elsewhere, Nettleham and Cleethorpes shared six goals in the battle for a top four finish, whilst Lincoln United Development overcame Immingham at Ashby Avenue. Wyberton picked up another three points away at bottom side Louth Town, as did Horncastle Town against a struggling Grimsby Borough side.

Brigg Town CIC 2-0 Ruston Sports

The Zebras returned to winning ways, after last weeks goalless draw at Immingham, thanks to second half goals from Jake Reed and Jake Crossland. It's now five wins out of five for Brigg on home soil. They've also kept six clean sheets in their last eight matches. As for the away side, a mid table finish is looking increasingly likely as they continue to struggle to put a run of results together.

Gainsborough Trinity Reserves 2-4 Lincoln Moorlands Railway

It was another big win for Moorlands who made it three league wins out of three on the road this season. Josh Raby scored twice, whilst Gary Nimmo and Robbie Smith both found the net once again. The Lincoln side remain four points behind second place Brigg, but they reduce the margin on Trinity, who tasted defeat for the first time since the end of October, after a impressive run of results.

Grimsby Borough Reserves 1-2 Horncastle Town

The Wongers enjoyed their second away victory of the season thanks to goals from Richard Jackson and Jasper Caudwell. Alfie Usher scored for the hosts who have now lost seven games by a single goal this season and have picked up just one point in their last five matches. In contrast, Horncastle have won all five of their last five fixtures. They still sit slightly adrift of the mid table pack, but have several games in hand.

Lincoln United Development 4-2 Immingham Town

Having picked up a valuable point last time out versus Brigg, The Pilgrims would have been hoping to build on that result this time out. But it wasn't to be as Lincoln United's Jack Wilkinson led the charge with a brace as his side enjoyed their fourth home win of the season. Eliot Dye and Andy Jannsen chipped in with the other two, whilst Ben Cooke scored both of the away sides goals.

Louth Town 1-2 Wyberton

Louth's poor run of form continues as they slipped to their fifth home defeat of the season. In fact, they're yet to pick up a single point at the Marshlands. Jake Beauchamp and Nathan Wright inflicted the pain on the hosts to ensure their side took another step in their quest to move up the rankings. Jack Barker scored for The White Wolves.

Nettleham 3-3 Cleethorpes Town Reserves

Cleethorpes were looking to avoid three straight defeats as they made the trip to Mulsanne Park this weekend. And it was looking like they'd do just that and more as they led 2-0 at the half way stage thanks to goals from Callum Cordingley and Tom Summers. They even added a third through George Farr just a minute into the second period to make it 3-0. However, goals from Jason Barratt (2) and Sam Chapman in the 80th, 84th and 89th minute turned the game on it's head to pinch their side a point, when it looked like all three were heading back to Clee. Both sides sit on twenty points in fifth and sixth place.
