By Lincs League

Round up from Friday's Lincs Junior final, and Saturday's league games in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League.

BRIGG TOWN CIC lifted their first piece of silverware of the season after beating Horncastle Town 3-1 in normal time at The Vertigo Stadium to be crowned Lincolnshire Junior Cup champions.

Four sides were also in league action on Saturday, including lincoln Moorlands who won 4-0 away at Cleethorpes Town Reserves which puts them just one game away from clinching the Lincolnshire League title. At the other end of the table, Louth and Grimsby Borough Reserves played out a 1-1 draw.

Brigg Town CIC 3-1 Horncastle Town

A crowd of around three hundred watched on in this all Lincs League county cup final as The Zebras took on The Wongers at the Vertigo Stadium. Brigg's top scorer Reece Moody gave his side the perfect start as he opened the scoring just three minutes into the game. Despite a fast Brigg start, Elliot Andrew's powerful header drew his side level with twenty minutes on the clock.

The second half began just the same as the first, when Jake Reed caught The Wongers cold once again just two minutes into the half. 2-1 Brigg. Minutes later, things went from bad to worse for Horncastle as Scott Lowman saw red for a late tackle in the middle of the park. Credit to Stones' ten men who battled hard to try and find an equaliser, but a professional Brigg performance was rounded off when Jonathan Nichols beat the onrushing keeper to the ball and slotted into an empty net with five minutes remaining to send the jubilant Brigg fans into wild celebration.

A last gasp effort from Horncastle saw no reward and the final whistle blew to crown Brigg Town Lincolnshire Junior Cup champions.

Cleethorpes Town Reserves 0-4 Lincoln Moorlands Railway

A Gary Nimmo hat-trick saw The Moors cruise to their sixteenth league victory of the season, which now puts them within one win of being crowned Lincolnshire League champions. Jesse Anderson rounded off another solid performance for The Moors who extend their lead in the title race to eight points. On the other hand, The Owls have drawn a blank for the third successive home match, and are without a win in five. The two sides meet again on the 27th in the reverse fixture, but Moorlands could well have things wrapped up by then.

Louth Town 1-1 Grimsby Borough Reserves

It goes without saying that no team wants to be bottom of the table come the end of the season, so as the two sides locked on equal points propping up the table met, this was a good opportunity for them to increase their chances of avoiding just that. However, after ninety minutes of action, neither side could be separated, both teams only being able to find a goal each. Frazer Chapman's scoring streak continued as he found the net to give the The White Wolves the lead, but at just sixteen year old, Borough's Josh Vickers scored his first senior goal which meant both teams would have to settle for a point each, and remain separated by goal difference.
