By Lincs League

HORNCASTLE Town climbed back to the top of the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League with a tidy victory at previous leaders Ruston Sports.

The 3-0 win ended a barren spell for the Wongers, who had not won a league game since October, and emphasised just what a tough league this is.

Indeed three points separate the top five sides.

Immingham Town consolidated their fifth place in the table with a 3-0 win at Brigg Town Development, while draw specialists Wyberton held Sleaford Sports Amateurs to a 2-2 stalemate at Eslaforde Park.

Immingham Town picked up their first away points of the season with a 3-0 victory at the Hawthorns.

Unbeaten at home, the Pilgrims have struggled to break their duck on their travels, but second half goals from Gary Nimmo, Carl Price and David Deane did the trick.

Town are now just three points off top spot in the league table.

The three goals conceded were enough to dump Brigg onto the bottom rung on goal difference.

These two have now met four times this season and honours are even, with two wins apiece.

The win dislodged the Lincoln-based Sports from top spot and lifted the Wongers to the summit.

Andrew Bullivant’s 30th minute opener separated the two sides at the interval and the same player doubled Horncastle’s lead in the second half.

Liam Papworth wrapped up the scoring when he raced clear of the Rustons defence and steered the ball past the home keeper after being released by Bullivant.

Sleaford Sports Amateurs 2 Wyberton 2

Wyberton went ahead early in the second half, but Nathan Thompson’s corner was smashed high into the net by Oliver Sidney to make the final score 2-2.
