GRIMSBY BOROUGH RESERVES moved off the bottom of the Lincs League table with a narrow 3-2 win at home to third placed Lincoln United Reserves. Meanwhile, in the only other two league fixtures of the weekend, Cleethorpes Town Reserves and Nettleham closed in on the top three with victories over Ruston Sports and Immingham, respectively.
Cleethorpes Town Reserves 4-1 Ruston Sports
Braces from both Owl's teammates, Jack Boswell and David Deane secured their team of their fifth league victory of the season, as well as a league double over the Lincoln based, Ruston Sports. Gavin Mackie scored a late consolation for the visitors who slip a place to seventh, whilst Cleethorpes move level with Lincoln United Reserves on sixteen points.
Grimsby Borough Reserves 3-2 Lincoln United Reserves
The hosts came into the game winless in nine, but were facing a Lincoln United side who had also fallen to three defeats in their last four games. It was the Grimsby side who came away with all three points on this occasion, winning by three goals to two for their third win of the season. Parker, Burke and Braithwaite scored for Borough, whilst second half goals for Scales and Cotton proved to be just a consolation. This victory has propelled themselves three places up to ninth, whilst The Whites failed to close the gap on the top two.
Immingham Town 0-5 Nettleham
The Nettles built on last weekends victory over Horncastle Town with a five star display against Immingham Town at Blossom Way. Jack Higginson added two more goals to his league tally, whilst Alvin Nurse, Kieran Adams and Matthew Clarke also found the net to seal a comfortable away day victory for the village side. This win sees them close the gap on the top four, whilst The Pilgrims drop a place to tenth.
Lincs Junior Cup
The League will be represented by three teams in the quarter finals of the County Cup after victories for Horncastle Town and Wyberton. Both sides were in action against Boston League opposition. Luke Blondel and Jac Wright scored as The Wongers edged out Benington by two goals to one, whilst Wyberton were involved in a seven goal thriller as they beat Spilsby Town by four goals to three. Goals from Curtis Revell (2), Jamie Elston and Daniel White were enough to send The Colts through to the last eight of the competition. The other last sixteen tie between Lincoln Moorlands Railway and Brigg Town CIC was postponed and will be played this coming weekend.
