Weekend Round Up: Gameweek 18

By Lincs League

The full round up of the weekends games in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League.

LINCOLN MOORLANDS hit Immingham Town for thirteen goals, whilst fixtures elsewhere in the league saw much closer contests. That included Lincoln United's single goal victory over Nettleham in the Lincoln derby. Horncastle upset the form book with a home win over Cleethorpes, whilst it was disappointment for another one of the league's North Eastern sides as Grimsby Borough went down two goals to nil at home to Wyberton. Ruston Sports also recorded a 2-0 victory as they beat bottom side Louth Town.

Grimsby Borough Reserves 0-2 Wyberton

Wyberton's fifth successive away fixture proved worth the journey as goals from Curtis Revell and Nicky Frost sank a Grimsby side who were unbeaten in their previous two fixtures. Greswell's Wyberton are one of the league's form sides having won six of their last seven games following a slow start to the season. Grimsby drop a place to tenth, and face a crunch match in the local derby against Immingham next weekend.

Horncastle Town 2-0 Cleethorpes Town Reserves

The reverse fixture saw Cleethorpes make easy work of The Wongers with a comfortable 4-0 victory, but this time round it proved a much sterner task in awful conditions in Horncastle. In a game short of goalmouth action, the deadlock wasn't broken until the seventieth minute when Jasper Caudwell gave the hosts the lead. That advantage was doubled through Scott Lowman ten minutes later sealing his side their first league victory since early September. It was a missed opportunity who could have consolidated their place in the top three, but instead drop just outside. They can make amends, however, when they meet third placed Lincoln United next weekend.

Lincoln Moorlands Railway 13-1 Immingham Town

A ruthless Moorlands side made it a day to forget for Immingham Town who fell to their heaviest defeat since rejoining the league in 2016. With suspensions served for Moorlands, goals came from Nuttall (3), Nimmo (2), Huriuchi (2), Smith (2), Shipman, Ayres, Caldwell and to rub salt in the wounds, an own goal. Carl Price scored The Pilgrims' consolation. It was a much needed win for Moorlands who ended a run of three straight defeats, whilst The Pilgrims desperately need a result in the north east derby next week.

Louth Town 0-2 Ruston Sports

Louth Town were unable to repeat last months scoreline against Rustons, as they were undone by goals from James and Jordan Mackinder to lose 2-0 at their Saltfleetby ground. Rustons sit mid table with the Newark Road derby next up, whilst Louth face a the tricky task of hosting a Brigg side who have won twelve of their last thirteen games.

Lincoln United Development 1-0 Nettleham

A sole Kane Hutchinson strike sealed a vital three points for The Whites who regain their place in the top three of the standings. A normally free scoring Nettleham side fired a blank for the second week running, but still go into the Christmas break sitting in the top half of the table.
