Weekend Round Up: Gameweek 19

By Lincs League

A round up from the weekends action in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League.

Gainsborough Trinity Reserves will take just a three point lead into the Christmas break as Brigg Town picked up their seventh straight win in all competitions away at Louth Town.

Lincoln Moorlands, another team expected to be in contention come the end, earnt the bragging rights in the Newark Road derby as they eased to a four goal victory at Ruston Sports. In the Northeast derby, Immingham Town took the bragging rights as they edged out neighboring side Grimsby Borough Reserves by three goals to two. Unfortunately the games between Wyberton and Horncastle, and Cleethorpes and Lincoln United were postponed due to unplayable pitches.

Immingham Town 3-2 Grimsby Borough Reserves

This bottom three encounter was almost tied up after The Pilgrims raced into an early 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Price, Simpson and Fuller. However, Lobendham pulled one back from the spot to give his side hope. Despite being reduced to ten men, the visitors then scored a second through Parker to set up an exciting second half. Unfortunately for the visitors, that was as near as they could get as the hosts made the extra man count with a disciplined display to see out the game and take all three points. This victory sees The Pilgrims move up to ninth, whilst Borough trail them by just one point in eleventh.

Louth Town 0-2 Brigg Town CIC

Louth's poor run of form continues as they fell to their fourth home defeat of the season against second placed Brigg Town. Cameron Hill opened the scoring for the Zebras in the thirty-fifth minute, before Jake Reed doubled their lead and put Brigg in full control on the hour mark. The White Wolves had no reply, and this win sees Brigg go into Christmas just three points behind leaders, Gainsborough, with a game in hand.

Ruston Sports 0-4 Lincoln Moorlands Railway

These two sides last met two years ago with Moorlands running out 4-0 winners, and it was a repeat of that scoreline this time out. Gary Nimmo opened the scoring in the thirty-sixth minute to give his side a narrow lead going into half time, but it was a twelve minute hat-trick for Jesse Anderson which sealed all three points for the visitors. This win now sees Moorlands move up three places to fifth place, whilst Ruston's will have to settle with eighth place going into the two Christmas period.
