Weekend Round Up: Gameweek 25

By Lincs League

Weekend round up for the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League and Lincs Junior Cup semi final.

A 3-2 victory over Wyberton at The Hawthorns sees Brigg Town CIC book their place in the 2019/20 Lincolnshire FA Junior Cup final.

In league action, a nine goal thriller at The Northolme saw Cleethorpes Town Reserves beat table toppers Gainsborough Trinity, whilst Lincoln Moorlands Railway saw off Horncastle Town on Newark Road to move up to second. In the only other game of the weekend, Louth Town picked up another point on their travels, as they drew 1-1 with Immingham.

Lincs Junior:

Brigg Town CIC 3-2 Wyberton

The Zebras have booked themselves in their first final of the season, after a 3-2 win at home over Wyberton. The hosts looked to have the game wrapped up after a clinical first half performance saw them take a 3-0 lead into the break. Only the Wyberton players will know what was said, but Joe Greswell's team talk worked wonders as his side scored two quickfire goals to narrow the advantage to just a single goal just four minutes into the second period. An action packed final forty saw Wyberton continue to put the pressure on in search of an equaliser, although Brigg also had some good chances to put the tie to bed. However, despite a credible effort from the Boston side, Brigg would not surrender their lead and saw it out until the final whistle. They will now play Horncastle Town in an all Lincs League league final.

League:

Gainsborough Trinity Reserves 4-5 Cleethorpes Town Reserves

Trinity had lost just once in their previous thirteen league fixtures, and they were looking good to extend their lead at the top of the table as they took a 2-1 scoreline into the half time break. The second forty five saw them score twice more, but four goals from a ruthless Cleethorpes turned the game around to win 5-4 for their third away victory of the season.

Immingham Town 1-1 Louth Town

Louth have picked up all their points this season on the road and they came away with another after this match at Blossom Way Sports Ground to end a frustrating run of results. Jordan Whittleton scored his first of the campaign for the visitors, whilst Callum Day did his bit for the Pilgrims.

Lincoln Moorlands Railway 5-2 Horncastle Town

Having secured a place in the final of the Lincs Junior Cup last weekend Horncastle turned their attentions to league action, as they paid a visit to title contenders, Lincoln Moorlands. After a 1-1 half time scoreline, Bullivant scored his second of the game to give Horncastle a lead. But it was short lived, as Raby and Smith found two goals each to run out 5-2 winners and add another valuable three points to the collection.
