Weekend Round Up: Gameweek 28

By Lincs League

Weekend round up from all the games in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League.

Brigg Town CIC scored a last minute equaliser to keep their title hopes alive as they drew 3-3 at home to fellow title contenders Lincoln Moorlands Railway in a thrilling contest at The Hawthorns Stadium.

The derby between Cleethorpes Town Reserves and Grimsby Borough Reserves wasn't the enthralling affair it turned out to be last time these sides met as they both had to settle for a goalless draw at The Linden Homes Club. Last month, Louth began to show signs of an upturn in form, but that thought was squashed as Nettleham fired four past them without reply on home soil. In the only other match of the weekend, Horncastle Town returned to winning ways with a narrow 2-1 win away at Lincoln United.

Brigg Town CIC 3-3 Lincoln Moorlands Railway

With Gainsborough fixtureless, Lincoln Moorlands had the opportunity to move top of the table for the first time this season if they were to beat third placed Brigg in this tasty encounter. And the occasion certainly lived up to expectations as both sides took a share of the points in an action packed game.

Reece Moody scored his 10th league goal of the season to open the scoring, before missing the opportunity to double his sides advantage from the spot just before half time. Josh Raby leveled the proceedings five minutes into the second half before Jake Stokes' sweetly struck volley turned the tie on it's head. An equally spectacular volley from Cameron Hill made it 2-2 soon after. Oliver Thacker thought he'd won it in injury time, but the Zebras refused to give in and were rewarded with a last minute goal thanks to Jonny Nicholls to prevent The Moors from going home with all three points. This result sees Trinity hold onto their lead in the race for the title, a point clear of Moorlands, whilst Brigg sit three points off the pace in third.

Cleethorpes Town Res 0-0 Grimsby Borough Res

The reverse fixture, back in November saw the two sides drew 1-1 and this time round they shared another draw, just without the goals. It's now three draws on the bounce for Borough, while Cleethorpes are unbeaten in four themselves.

Lincoln United Development 1-2 Horncastle Town

Since sealing their place in the Lincs Junior final, Horncastle had failed to win on three occasions, whilst their hosts had won two of their previous three. However, The Wongers found a way in the end at Ashby Avenue as Stephen Brown and Jonathan Timmins provided the goals to earn them a 2-1 victory. The Whites goal came from Clayton Wilkinson. The two sides meet again later in the month as the battle it out for a place in the Challenge Cup Final.

Nettleham 4-0 Louth Town

The Nettles came into the game winless in three but had no problem against bottom side Louth who were poor on the day in their fourth successive away fixture. Eddie Davies scored twice for the home side, along with goals from Daryl Chappell and Charlie Hinchliffe. Nettleham move back up to seventh whilst The White Wolves find themselves cut adrift from the rest by a six point margin.
