Rep Squad Exit Inter League Cup

By Lincs League

The Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League's representative squad exited the FA Inter League Cup losing 5-2 after extra time to The Staffordshire Senior County League.

Despite a dominant 1st half display and a two goal lead thanks to goals from Skegness' Luke Raynor-Mistry and Immingham's Gary Nimmo, Matt Easton's side couldn't see out there lead in the 2nd half.

The Staffordshire XI came out a different side in the 2nd forty-five minutes forcing the Lincs League further and further back towards their eighteen yard box. But it wasn't until the seventy-fifth minute when the visitors got their opening goal. The pressure continued and the hosts stood strong until the last minute of normal time when Staffordshire got their equaliser to send the game into extra time.

It didn't take long for the game to be turned on its head when the Staffordshire League got their 3rd just seven minutes in. Despite several first class saves from Travis Portas to keep his team in the contest, the visitors went onto to score two more, including a penalty in the final minute of the game to round off an impressive final hour by Staffordshire.

The League would like to wish The Staffordshire League all the best in the next round against the York Football League.

Starting XI: Portas (Skegness), Shinn (Horncastle), Foster (Nettleham), Johnson (c) (Horncastle), Coyde (Nettleham), Warren (Skegness), Fidling (Horncastle), Nimmo (Immingham), Smith (Skegness), Raynor-Mistry (Skegness), Mackinder (Ruston Sports).
