Weekend Preview: 27th Jan

By Lincs League

RUSTON SPORTS will have the opportunity to open up a three point gap at the summit of the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League if they overcome the challenge of Horncastle Town this weekend.

With Grimsby Borough's game postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and Nettleham without a fixture, they can pull away from the rest and take an outright lead for the first time this season.

Ruston Sports vs Horncastle Town - 14:00, Ruston Sports & Social Club

After a slow start to their 2017/18 campaign Ruston Sports are now on a roll and will be aiming to make it seven straight league victories when they meet Horncastle Town on home soil on Saturday afternoon. Their late comeback just a fortnight ago over reigning champions Skegness Town could invigorate their push for the title this season. On the other hand, Horncastle will be hoping to rediscover their form from earlier in the season. Having slipped to fourth in the league due to a winless streak of four games The Wongers will be eager to get their season back on track. The two sides have already met three times this season. Horncastle progressed to the quarter-final of the Supplementary Cup with a win on penalties, although the Lincoln based side claimed victory in the Lincs Junior Cup, and in the reverse fixture in the league.

Sleaford Sports Amateurs vs Wyberton - 14:00, Eslaforde Park

Sleaford ended a three game losing streak when they enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Brigg Town just two weeks ago. Another three points tomorrow would really boost their confidence in the run up to what appears to be a tricky set of fixtures for the month of February. After receiving the bitterly disappointing news of their expulsion from the Lincs Junior County Cup last week, Wyberton will be looking to put that behind them and bounce back with their first victory on the road this season. The last time the two clubs met was a Challenge Cup fixture back in October, when the Boston side breezed through 4-0 winners at The Causeway.

Brigg Town Development vs Immingham Town - 15:00, The Hawthorns

Brigg are still looking for their first home point of the season on Saturday, having failed to pick up anything in their previous six ties on home soil. In contrast, Immingham have yet to gain a single point on their travels, having lost their fifth consecutive away trip in the league to Grimsby Borough last weekend. At this stage of the season, a point may not help either side, with Brigg looking to bridge the gap to ninth placed CGB Humbertherm, and Immingham who need a full quota to gain ground on the top four.
