Weekend Preview: 17th February

By Lincs League

IMMINGHAM TOWN will be looking to maintain their unbeaten home record when they welcome the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League leaders, Ruston Sports to the Immingham Sports Complex on Saturday.

Elsewhere, third play fifth as Nettleham host Grimsby Borough. Horncastle take on Sleaford Sports, Louth entertain Wyberton, and Skegness travel to bottom side, Brigg.

Immingham Town vs Ruston Sports - Immingham Sports Complex, 14:00

Arguably the crunch match of the weekend, see's The Pilgrims play host to Lincoln based Ruston Sports. For the hosts, it's a return to home comforts after achieving back to back away victories and scoring eight without reply in their previous two fixtures.

The visitors also come into the game after two consecutive wins, most notably last weekend's eight goal thriller versus city rivals, Nettleham.

Alex Mackinder racked up his 20th league goal last weekend, and accompanied by the inform Callum Dye, they will both be spearheading the Rustons attack and will be asking plenty of questions of the Immingham back line which stood strong to keep a clean sheet at Sleaford in their last match.

Brigg Town Development vs Skegness Town - The Hawthorns, 15:00

Brigg desperately need to get some points on the board if they want to avoid finishing in last place this campaign, and face a tricky task in their next encounter as they come head to head with current champions, Skegness Town.

The Lilywhites, who have played a handful of games less than the majority of their opponents, turned in a ruthless performance to beat Louth last weekend and manager, Nick Champman will be looking for a similar showing from his side if they are to repeat a result in their favour this weekend.

Last weekend, Will Britton opened up his account for the season with a hat-trick in his second game since rejoining the seasiders from Boston Town in January. He could well be the key to unlocking the Brigg defence and helping his side to their first away victory of the season.

Louth Town vs Wyberton - Main Road, Saltfleetby, 14:00

Just two points separate these two clubs going into this fixture. Victory for Louth would see themselves leapfrog their opponents and move into 8th place, having played three times more than the Boston side.

Nettleham vs Grimsby Borough Academy - Mulsanne Park, 14:00

Both teams will be looking for a reaction this weekend after any title hopes they had took big hits in their previous games after damaging defeats. Although the Nettles battled hard and scored three times, it wasn't enough in the contest against the league's leaders.

More worryingly for Grimsby Borough, they suffered their worst defeat of the season, losing 6-1 to Horncastle Town on home soil.

Sleaford Sports vs Horncastle Town - Eslaforde Park, 14:00

Despite receiving the team of the month award, Sleaford Sports will be keen to erase last Saturday from the memory. Victory over Horncastle would certainly help that, but it won't come easily as the Wongers are looking to keep hot on the heels of Ruston Sports in the race for the title.
