Weekend Round Up: Gameweek 23

By Lincs League

Weekend round up from all the games in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League.

Gainsborough Trinity's late winner at Wyberton was enough to see them return to winning ways and extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

Brigg Town kept their fifth successive clean sheet away at Cleethorpes Town Reserves, but were held to a draw, whilst Lincoln Moorlands Railway came from a goal down to take all three points at home to Grimsby Borough Reserves. Ruston Sports won by the odd goal in seven at Nettleham, and Horncastle Town continued their good form at home to Immingham. Bottom side Louth were undone by a goal at the death to lose by a single goal at home to Lincoln United Development.

Cleethorpes Town Reserves 0-0 Brigg Town CIC

Brigg Town recorded their fifth successive clean sheet at the Linden Homes Club, but were unable to unlock the Cleethorpe's defence as both teams played out a goalless draw. Brigg are now seven points behind Gainsborough with three games in hand, whilst a point for the Owls sees them move up a place to sixth. All the focus of The Zebras will now be on their county cup semi final next weekend.

Horncastle Town 3-0 Immingham Town

The Wongers took their winning streak to six as they made easy work against an Immingham side who are winless in 2019. Andrew Bullivant scored two first half goals before Luke Blondel put the game beyond the visitors just after the break. The win sees Horncastle remain in ninth, but move three points clear of their opponents. Horncastle's attention now turns to their Lincolnshire Junior Cup semi final against Tetney Rovers next weekend.

Lincoln Moorlands Railway 4-1 Grimsby Borough Reserves

James Dean-Atkinson gave Grimsby Borough the lead after just four minutes on the clock, but goals from Jesse Anderson, Gary Nimmo, Luke Shipman and Robbie Smith turned things around for the Lincoln side, who are now on a six game winning streak and are just two points behind second placed Brigg.

Louth Town 0-1 Lincoln United Development

It took an injury time goal from Cameron Hill to separate these two sides at The Marshlands ground. This denied Louth their first point of 2019, whilst back to back wins for The Whites sees them consolidate their place in fourth spot.

Nettleham 3-4 Ruston Sports

This Lincoln derby served up seven goals and it was last years champions who edged things to take the victory. Jason Barratt and Alvin Nurse were on target for the hosts, but Jordan Mackinder, James Wilson, Scott Nicholson and Jake Read provided the goals for The Sports, who continue to creep up the table.

Wyberton 0-1 Gainsborough Trinity Reserves

An eighty fourth minute goal denied the Boston side of a valuable point at home to leaders Gainsborough. This goal sees Trinity increase their lead at the summit of the table to seven points. As for Wyberton, their attention turns to a county cup semi final at Brigg on Saturday.
